Are You Producing Endorphins; If Not – You May be in Trouble – Here’s Why

ARE YOU SENSING WHAT I SENSE WHEN I LOOK AT THESE AIGNER CHOCOLATES?

You know the effect they will have – you know what they will produce…

WELL – DO YOU PRODUCE ENDORPHINS?

Imagine or recall what you feel and sense when you walk into a chocolate shop.

Pause…really – close your eyes and imagine what you are feeling, smelling, anticipating and sensing – especially if the chocolate shop is your favorite – especially if you have a high degree of certainty that endorphins are soon to be produced along with many other positive and perhaps – almost addictive – sensations.

You will soon be one “Happy Camper” – right?

And – if you are picking up a bunch of chocolate goodies for your customers as part of your Outreach – you are about to produce a lot of endorphins – correct?

Like me – you will conduct a “taste test” on the trip to your Outreach event or meeting just to be certain that all is as you expect it to be.

If you may not be familiar with endorphins – here’s a very short definition at Wikipedia: “The principal function of endorphins is to inhibit the communication of pain signals; they may also produce a feeling of euphoria.”

Are you producing “a feeling of euphoria” is the point.

ABOVE ALL – WHAT DO WE AS HUMANS CRAVE?

19 years ago – when we launched our company and began to teach Outreach to clinicians and technicians operating in Critical Medical Aviation programs across our nation – one of the first questions I would pose to flight crews, aviation mechanics, Communication Specialists, pilots and all other supporting and managing staff was;

“Above all things – what do we as humans crave?”… then I’d apply The 2nd Rule of Outreach; SHUT UP!

It has always been a blast to hear the responses throughout the sessions (or now webinars / live video streaming too.)

Almost always “CHOCOLATE” is among the first to be spoken out. Yes we surely crave this – but not #1.

Of course – “well-educated” go for Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs…. (no I will not make you read these – again…)

We crave many of these – but not #1.

Financial success comes out a lot – but not #1.

Love – sure – but still not #1.

What are you thinking? Above all what do we as humans crave? What do you above all other things crave?

A vintage GUCCI ® Trauma Bag? Okay – maybe that is really really close to #1 – but not #1.

ABOVE ALL THINGS – WHAT WE AS HUMANS CRAVE IS; CERTAINTY!

Certainty that the chocolate we are smelling and about to buy – tastes as amazing as it smells and looks – every time

Certainty that we will be safe and have shelter and maybe even self-actualization

Certainty that we will have financial success (or at least enough to pay our basic bills)

Certainty that we will be loved

Certainty that we might just get a really awesome GUCCI ® Trauma Bag for our helicopter… (guys I know you all really crave this)

SO THEN – HOW CERTAIN ARE YOU TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?

When a customer calls your Comm Center – sometimes frantic and anxious – how certain are they that at the end of the call – at a minimum, they feel relieved – but ideally – maybe the Comm Spec was so good that she produced endorphins

When you conduct an Outreach educational event – you are not typical or boring – but you are innovative – fun – entertaining – truly informative – and you inspire those attending – you produce endorphins

When your flight crew arrives at a catastrophic Multiple Casualty Incident and one of them looks a totally overwhelmed and freaked-out volunteer first responder in the eye and says, “Damn good job setting up our LZ! Thanks!” …that can produce endorphins

When you simply listen – with authenticity to a customer or solve a problem totally unrelated to getting a flight request – and really help them out of a bind – that produces endorphins

BOTTOM ECG

Be uncertainty busters! Be the yummy chocolate – meaning – when you appear – when you engage – when you are near – when you deliver your services – the end result; INCREASED CERTAINTY & ENDORPHINS PRODUCED!

NOW – YOU WANT CERTAINTY OF A PLACE WHERE ENDORPHINS ARE PRODUCED?  BE SURE TO CHECK OUT AIGNER CHOCOLATES
